A law firm seeks Lucky's girlfriend, Maggie, to give her money inherited from an uncle.  With Andamo's help, they locate her - however, the lawyer is a fake, hired by two thugs whom Maggie can identify as perpetrators of a mob killing.

As payment of a gambling debt, Mr. Lucky receives money which was stolen from a race track; he and Andamo wind up in jail.

Andamo is charmed by three elderly gamblers - but not so much after they rob the Fortuna.  The police inform Mr. Lucky that they can't go after them since the crime occurred outside the three mile limit, so Lucky and Andamo reluctantly play "posse" and pursue them on their own.

Andamo is smitten with a society lady who boards the Fortuna in an effort to stop gambling there.  She altruistically heads up a charity which isn't all it seems.

After Lucky decides to change the Fortuna from a gambling casino to a supper club, a woman whom Lucky rescues when she attempts suicide asks him for a very large loan.  Andamo and Lucky then try to track her blackmailer.

A gangster is pressuring a comedian who works on the Fortuna to return to his club.  Andamo and Lucky are not laughing when the gangster kidnaps both the comedian's wife and Maggie.

Mr. Lucky encounters legal problems when he tries to intervene with the police, who threaten to throw his salad chef in prison for parole violations.   

A businessman under investigation for tax fraud tries to place a similar rap on Mr. Lucky to keep the IRS investigator busy until he can fix his own books.  Andamo finds his nerves are taxed by the IRS' audit.

Lucky sponsors a boxer for a charity match; he is pressured by the opponent's promoter to have his boxer take a dive.  Andamo gets in a brief round of his own.

Gangsters kidnap Andamo and hold him hostage after Lucky refuses their demand to use the Fortuna for their getaway.

After a ruined poker player attempts suicide, Lucky sets out to find who has been using marked cards at a friend's club.  Andamo goes undercover - or at least attempts to.
